How to Create Instagram Graphics Inside the Instagram App

If you're anything like me, sometimes you just can't be bothered to go into Canva to create an Instagram graphic for that day's post.

Whenever I feel like this -- and I have an urgent message I want to share with the world -- I create the graphic right inside Instagram.

In today's video, I share exactly how I do that.

Spoiler alert: when I create posts like this, they end up being some of my best performing posts! Must have something to do with the algorithm...

Now, I love Canva as much as the next person, but sometimes you don't want to leave the Instagram app and you just want to create a graphic to get your point across in the moment.

Here are some quick steps to help you create a graphic right inside the Instagram app.

  1. First you go into your Instagram app and click on the plus sign in the top right corner to create a Story.

  2. You upload your chosen background for the Story. I've already created some branded backgrounds. I just upload the image of the branded background with my brand colors. I write the text that I want to appear in my static feed post right into the Story without actually posting it. You can add any additional flourishes or graphics you want with the draw tool.

  3. Save the story as an image without publishing it. As you save the story image, you can discard the actual story itself.

  4. Go into your photo editor and find the saved Story image.

  5. Crop the image to a square (as you would find in Instagram feed post).

  6. Save the square image and now you've got your feed graphic.

  7. Go back to Instagram, create a new post and upload that graphic and any caption you want to appear underneath.

  8. And there you go! A new Instagram post ready in just a couple of minutes without ever leaving the app.

Top tip: you can follow the same exact steps multiple times to create carousel posts as well.

When I’ve created Instagram posts like this, they have been some of my best performing posts!

Why not go ahead and try it and let me know how it works out for you 😊

VA Success Stories with Kellie Daab: How Knowing + Growing Your Strengths (and Skills) Lead to Success

In our VA Success Stories series, we interview successful virtual assistants to go behind the scenes of their business, find out how they got started, why they love their work, and more. Kellie Daab started as a VA and has ended up carving out her own niche becoming an industry leader and sought-after Wedding Business Architect.

Everything You've Ever Wanted To Know About Becoming a Virtual Assistant (but were too afraid to ask!)

Times have changed.

Gone are the days of long commutes, mind-numbing water cooler conversations and staying in the office until someone suggests ordering pizza for dinner.

The thing is, we live in a location-independent age. Team members can meet across continents with the help of video-conferencing tools like Skype, Zoom and Google Hangouts just as if they were in the same room. Cloud storage solutions like Drop Box and Google Drive mean you can access any document at any time from anywhere in the world. Email is the way we all communicate and it's here to stay.
